Hi, I’m Sarah spring.
Fondly known by friends as Dame Sarah Spring — Actor, Coach, Educator, and lover of Shakespeare.
If Shakespeare has ever felt overwhelming, I’m here to make it approachable. Through free resources, coaching, classes, and speaking events, I help you understand, enjoy, and even delight in the Bard’s words—all with warmth, humor, and a touch of theatrical flair.

Shakespeare, Made Clear
Shakespeare Made Clear exists to dissolve the fear, intimidation, and mystery that so often surround Shakespeare’s work—and replace them with understanding, confidence, and joy.
This is not Shakespeare as an academic obstacle or a dusty literary monument.
This is Shakespeare as living language. Music. Emotion. Play.
Here, Shakespeare becomes something you do, not something you endure.
How This Began
Like many people, I was always drawn to Shakespeare—but for a long time, I didn’t truly understand him. The words felt just out of reach, as though there were an invisible wall between me and the text.
Everything changed when I began acting Shakespeare.
On my feet, inside the language, the work opened itself. What once felt intimidating revealed itself to be playful, precise, deeply human, and full of emotional truth. Acting became the key that unlocked a whole new world—one I’ve been joyfully exploring ever since.
Shakespeare Made Clear grew from that revelation: Shakespeare isn’t meant to be decoded in isolation. He’s meant to be experienced.
What I Believe
Shakespeare is for everyone
Clarity is the gateway to joy
Authority does not require intimidation
Play is a powerful teacher
Understanding Shakespeare is the difference between loving it and hating it
Too often, Shakespeare is taught with unnecessary pretension—treated as something to revere from a distance rather than something to engage with fully. That approach closes doors. My work opens them.
How I Teach
Students often describe my teaching as warm, captivating, playful, and passionate. I specialize in taking ideas that feel “big” or “scary” and translating them into something clear, grounded, and human.
I want my classrooms—virtual or otherwise—to feel like a safe place. A place where curiosity is rewarded, questions are welcome, and discovery feels exciting rather than stressful.
Think: the Bob Ross or Mr. Rogers of Shakespeare.
Why This Matters Now
In a world increasingly shaped by automation, shortened attention spans, and digital distance, Shakespeare offers something essential: critical thinking, empathy, emotional literacy, and genuine human connection. Engaging with Shakespeare is not about looking backward—it’s about strengthening the skills we need most right now.
